Muslim Advocates Against Violence (MAAV) is comprised of anti-violence advocates across the U.S. who are committed to ending violence against women and supporting healthy communities.

MAAV was founded in July of 2008 by Muslim women attending the National Coalition of Domestic Violence (NCADV) conference in Washington D.C. We organized ourselves in an effort to get national and local recognition and respect from mainstream domestic violence organizations, Muslim religious leaders and community partners.  Through providing a collective voice on the experiences of Muslim anti-violence advocates, we work to encourage and support the critical thinking of ways to address and prevent domestic violence in Muslim communities.
